Viz for Social Good (VFSG) is looking for more volunteers to support the Community team! These positions are fully remote and part of a larger global team that’s dedicated to helping non-profits and charities create social impact around the world. Are you in?

COMMUNITY EVENTS LEADER

We are looking for a volunteer Events Leader to identify relevant events and conferences to share our work and reach out to potential volunteers and charities to help our social impact go further.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify and coordinate VFSG participation in external events and conferences across regions.

  • Develop and curate resources, such as videos, presentation materials, and lightning talks, to elevate our presence at events.

  • Collaborate with our Social Media team to promote all upcoming events.

  • Support the Operations team by organizing and enhancing VFSG’s internal events, such as kick-off meetings and project presentations.

 

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT LEADER

We are looking for an Engagement Leader to foster a strong sense of community among our exceptional volunteers and partner charities.

Responsibilities:

  • Innovate and implement reward and gamification methods to motivate and recognize VFSG volunteers, including VFSG Champions, social media badges, and challenges.

  • Understand the diverse needs and motivations of different volunteer communities within VFSG (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, D3, students, researchers).

  • Craft a comprehensive welcome strategy for new volunteers to ensure they have a smooth onboarding experience.

  • Establish and nurture dedicated discussion spaces (e.g., channels, online meetups) for various volunteer groups.

  • Collaborate with the Operations team to provide mentorship and support to volunteers during projects.

  • Work closely with the Marketing team to highlight the incredible work and achievements of our volunteers.

  • Create a community of charities.

 

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT LEADER

We are looking for a Community Development Leader to expand VFSG's footprint by connecting with new and diverse communities in the data visualization sphere.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with the Community Engagement Leader to identify new data visualization communities and introduce them to VFSG.

  • Establish connections with influential leaders from the identified communities and collaborate on mutually beneficial projects (e.g., joint training sessions with the Education team).

  • Foster growth within our existing volunteer communities.

  • Collaborate with the Community Events Leader to identify and participate in events that attract new volunteers.

SOCIAL MEDIA LEAD

We are looking for a Social Media Lead to create posts across social channels that keep everyone informed about all the exciting happenings and volunteer work at VFSG.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate Twitter and LinkedIn posts, ensuring effective regional targeting and alignment to the Marketing Director's strategy.

  • Launch and maintain VFSG's presence on Instagram.

  • Collaborate with other team members, such as the Community Events Leader and Community Engagement Leader, to promote VFSG's event participation, volunteers' achievements, and relevant information across various platforms.

 

VFSG AMBASSADORS

The VFSG Ambassador role is reserved for our outstanding volunteers who represent the spirit of VFSG and contribute significantly to the success of our mission.

Responsibilities:

  • Actively participate in VFSG projects on a regular basis.

  • Demonstrate a strong presence and involvement within the data visualization community, both within VFSG and externally.

  • Engage in internal events to either present or support the community.

  • Represent VFSG at external conferences and events as esteemed advocates of our organization.

  • Be an active contributor of ideas to propel us forward and engage from time to time in internal meetings.
